Aug 18, 2010: The 3rd Annual Doghouse Party is right around the corner...Sat, Oct 9th @ 6pm. If I know you, you're invited...hope to see you there! Love, Hollie May 26, 2010: A former little league teammate, Sara Taylor, wrote this article about "We Are Nashville"...thanks Sara! Just to clarify, the co-writer mentioned that was affected by the flood was not Kathy Marie Redwine but a different friend and co-writer. You can download "We Are Nashville" right here...all proceeds go to flood relief! Also, I posted a new demo "Love Me, Stupid" on my music page...please listen! Careful though...it's catchy :) Love, Hollie May 16, 2010: "Sista" Kathy Marie Redwine and I wrote and recorded a new song "We Are Nashville" (Brogunier/Redwine)...it is available for download for $5 and all proceeds will go to people affected by the recent floods in Nashville and its surrounding areas...PLEASE SUPPORT NASHVILLE! Love, Hollie Apr 9, 2010: Finally got a demo for "Clean House" (a co-write with my sista Kathy Marie Redwine)...click on my music page to listen! Love, Hollie Mar 11, 2010: New demos on my music page! "Catfish & Bluegrass" (Brogunier/Brando) and "The Line" (Brogunier) Love, Hollie Feb 13, 2010: Big news...I'm playing @ the Bluebird Cafe tomorrow (Valentine's Day)...if you're not familiar, the Bluebird is the most coveted venue for songwriters in Nashville. My "sista" Kathy Redwine will be helping out with harmonies...psyched! Love, Hollie Sep 19, 2009: New song..."Throwing Stones"! Check it out on my music page! Love, Hollie Sep 4, 2009: I'm a total slacker I know! Updates seem to come only every 3 months or so. But sooo much is going on...kids started school Aug 5 (2nd and 3rd graders) and I swear it feels like I have more homework than they do. The new job @ Sony is going very well. And even though my job is not REALLY music-related, I think that simply working on music row, just being around the music biz, actually encourages me to schedule more co-writes and writers nights. I've got about 3 new songs waiting to be demoed...always exciting to have new songs :) We're gearing up for the 2nd annual "doghouse" party...Oct 10th. If you're in the Nashville area and I've met you, you're totally invited...hope you can make it! Love, Hollie May 26, 2009: Wow...it's been a long time since the last update. So much going on! So my last day of work was May 15th. I was all ready to focus on music and try being self-employed for a while. But as fate would have it I was presented with an opportunity to work as a developer for Sony ATV Music Publishing in Nashville. I'll be working with their songwriter royalty system. Seriously? A major music publisher has a job opening for which I am qualified at the exact time I'm getting laid off. Coincidence? Fate? Dumb luck? Whatever it was...thank the Lord for small miracles. Today was my first day. In other news, I have teamed up with 2 awesome ladies in the biz (Kim Copeland and Susan Tucker) to write custom love songs for weddings, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Please check out our website for details and refer your friends! www.theperfectlovesong.com. Love, Hollie Feb 21, 2009: Songs and demos and layoffs oh my! So it seems that 2009 is the year for new adventures. A couple weeks ago I was told that I will be laid off in May. After the initial shock wore off I thought "OK...this must be my cue to focus on music!" After all, that IS why we moved here. So I have a couple months to figure out how I can make enough moolah to pay the mortgage and the private education but still have enough time to be a REAL songwriter. Therein lies the dilemma. But I ain't scared! I know in my heart this is a blessing in disguise. On to music! Check out my music page...you will find 6 new demos (3 totally new songs and 3 that you may have heard the worktape) this week with the help of Kim Copeland Productions. I cannot say enough about Kim...she is an amazing producer who hires only the BEST musicians/engineers who brings out the true potential in songs. In other words, I don't regret taking out a second mortgage for a whole day in the studio...ha ha! No seriously, I don't. Love, Hollie Jan 24, 2009: Happy New Year! 2009 has gotten off to a great start for me...I was recently matched up with a random co-writer by the folks at songu.com for a long-distance writing assignment in which we had to write a song with someone we didn't know over the internet. My co-writer was Rick Hoverter (from PA) and we came up with a song called "Dreams in Disguise". Out of all the writers participating in the assignment, one lucky pair would win a FREE demo (produced by Kim Copeland of kimcopelandproductions.com. And guess who lucked out? That's right! Check out our new AWESOME demo of "Dreams in Disguise". Oh and by the way, there's more of those to come shortly!!! Love, Hollie Dec 3, 2008: Yes, I'm still alive! Just finished a new love song. Interesting story...I donated a song to my kids' school for their silent auction. It was carelessly thrown into a basket of random music items by the ladies running the auction. The woman who won the basket didn't even know she had it for months. And then when she finally found it she wasn't sure what to do with it. So after talking to her and explaining how it works, she decided she wanted it to be about her grandson who has cerebral palsy. So her daughter (the child's mother) provided all the input for me to work with. Funny how some careless and random acts turn out to be not-so-random after all...it's called "Angel on Wheels". Love, Hollie Jun 2, 2008: I'm so excited about "Everyday Disarray"...finally got a demo with male vocals (by Tim Buppert) and it turned out great! Still have to add bass/drums but my co-writer Ryan Hydro and I are very pleased. Check it out on my music page. And happy birthday Mom! Love, Hollie Mar 27, 2008: I know it's been entirely too long...but I'm still here! I finally got a REAL demo done for "Angels in the Wings" (check it out on my music page)...I'm going to submit it again to the AI Songwriter contest. Let you know...oh and here's a new pic of me and my babies. Love, Hollie Dec 24, 2007: Merry Christmas! Been working on a couple new ones..."Everyday Disarray" is intended for a male vocalist (co-write with Ryan Hydro) and "Everything I Need" is about how much I miss being close to my family and friends at Christmastime. Check out my music page (and new MP3 player) to listen. Hope Santa is good to you all...see you in 2008! Love, Hollie Oct 16, 2007: Wrote this one for Brandy and Robb's wedding on Saturday...they wanted it to be a surprise so they didn't hear it until I played it live at the reception. My intention as simply to capture uniqueness of their relationship. Brandy started to cry after the first line...mission accomplished. It's called "In Tune". Love, Hollie Oct 10, 2007: Getting lots of good feedback on "Bitter Sweet"...thank you for your honest opinions (really). If you're in Nashville, come see me at the Commodore Sports Bar Oct 25th @ 8:30. If you're not in Nashville, what are you waiting for? Love, Hollie Aug 31, 2007: Latest demos are complete...let me know what you think... Bitter Sweet Can't Make Out Your Face Mr. Yeah Right Love, Hollie Aug 20, 2007: A couple weeks ago, I took "Bitter Sweet" to an NSAI workshop (critique night) and won a free demo for having the song deemed "most ready to demo!" I decided to go ahead and demo 3 songs while I'm in the studio this week. I will post them here hopefully sometime next week so you can finally here some fully produced songs. I'll be in B'more on Sat, Sept 15th to perform with Several Species at Pier Six Pavilion. Tix available through Ticketmaster...see ya there! Love, Hollie Aug 1, 2007: Hi everybody! Check out my new song "Bitter Sweet"...cranking out the female uptempos down here! Love, Hollie Jun 23, 2007: Here's my new one..."Never #2 With Me" (Female Uptempo)...see y'all in B'more the week of the 4th! Love, Hollie May 3, 2007: Sadly, "Angels in the Wings" did not make the Top 20 in the American Idol Songwriter contest. I plan on pursuing other avenues for it...maybe a graduation song! Thanks to all of you who were ready to vote for me. Love, Hollie Apr 17, 2007: Happy Tax Day! Today is also the deadline for the American Idol Songwriter contest. I submitted my new song "Angels in the Wings" last night so cross your fingers for me. Top 20 will be picked by AI staff and America will vote for their favorite. The winning song will be sung by the Season 6 American Idol winner. My mom told me about the contest less than 2 weeks ago! I didn't think I would have enough time to write and record a new song but decided to give it my best anyway. Here's what I came up with..."Angels in the Wings". See you in B'more this weekend for Several Species show at the Recher Theatre in Towson. Love, Hollie |
